Glim, The Rainbow Man
Glim sped for the rationed mire,
and half glimpsed the far off spire,
His eyes, seeing,
his mind, bleeding,
The entirety of that forgotten image.
Up the hill, up the dale,
passing through waters, along a dusty trail,
His feet, walking,
his heart, balking,
at the foreplay to that inevitable scrimmage.
Snow and sleet froze his exposed head,
Come sunshine, it baked instead.
His head, spinning,
His body, thinning,
as he commenced that fearsome ascent.
Stones and pebbles scuttled underfoot,
into icy pools garlanded by crows-foot.
His tongue, drying,
His lungs, sighing,
His eyes to his cheeks a rosy compliment.
The cliffs rose high, insurmountable,
Yet for failure was Glim held accountable.
His legs, pumping,
His heart, crumping,
The clouds rolled in around him.
The mist grew thicker, eddying madly
As upon it Glim looked sadly.
His hands, shaking,
His calves, quaking,
As his feared destiny surrounds him.
Pickaxe held high like a flaming brand,
He found a ledge to take his s
